They weigh 20–40 pounds, which makes them about the size of a medium dog. They are tall and skinny, with cheetah-like patterns on their coat. They are somewhat similar to cheetahs and are often mistaken as them. This gentle giant is a cuddly, affectionate ball of curly fur. But they are no couch potatoes—they love to play games and keep busy. Male Chartreux cats can weigh up to 16 pounds, but females tend to be on the smaller size weighing 9 pounds or less.

That's because when cats are unhappy with their litter boxes, they'll go to the bathroom elsewhere. If a cat pees or poops over the side of the box, perches on the walls of the box, or leaves the box to cover their waste, then the litter box is too small. Exotic cats require far more work and planning than an average domestic cat. Even hybrids require a lot of time from their owners, though that doesn’t mean they’re more affectionate or loving.
Large Cat Breeds
They are high energy and highly intelligent, so they need lots of stimuli. They don’t have any special exercise needs, and unlike many other cat breeds, they like water, so watch out if you’re having a bath. My own feline friend, Alexei, is a Siberian, so I’m particularly partial to this amazing breed. With a thick, luxurious coat, stunning Siberian colors, and the Siberian’s affectionate personality, this giant cat breed is well-suited to any home.
Facts about the Savannah cat
As coat length and texture is the only factor that disguises the felines, their personalities remain constant. They are not highly active or playful and would likely appreciate a more subdued life. They’ll make great companions for owners who love to curl up with a good book.

Siberians can get along well with other pets in the house as well as young children. Siberians love to explore outside and can do well as family pets. The average weight of these cats is between 7-12lbs, often looking bigger than they are because of their fluffy, long hair. These cats were bred with servals, an African wild cat, and they are generally classified now by what percentage they are still wild.

Hodgson says that's one of their pros, along with being intelligent and energetic. Because they're a hybrid breed, Hodgson says they could still exhibit aggressive and wild tendencies. Nicknamed "the dogs of the cat world," they're both family friendly and extremely intelligent and interactive, says Hodgson. But while they're fun for the whole family, there are some health concerns. These include a higher risk for polycystic kidney disease, hip dysplasia, and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Expect a ragamuffin kitty to follow you wherever you go and be the first to greet you with a cute-sounding meow when you get home.
They’d rather talk with you, rather than yell at you, which is a distinction that many pet parents can appreciate. Norwegian forest cats are known for their sociable nature and ease of care, making them one of the most popular entries on our largest domestic cat list. The adult Ragamuffin usually weighs between 10 and 20 pounds.
The painful condition might make the feline less cuddly and deserve prompt veterinarian care. Make an appointment with their veterinarian to have their weight and health assessed. The Maine Coon is one of the most popular pedigreed cat breed in the United States, and there are many excellent breeders from whom you can purchase a kitten.
While the Persian is large when compared to most cats, they're not the biggest cat breed on this list by a long shot. Weighing around 12 pounds, their extremely plush coat gives them a larger appearance. This big house cat is very laid back and highly intelligent, and some owners have even reported that they've managed to teach them tricks!

In the tradition of William Castle's theater gimmicks, Warner Bros. Pictures supplied promotional scratchcards to cinemas showing the film, offering ticket buyers a chance to win a money prize, similar to the movie's characters. The film received negative reviews from critics, but was a commercial success, opening number one at the box office, and grossed $43 million worldwide. Frederick Loren, an eccentric millionaire, invites five people to a party he is throwing for his fourth wife, Annabelle, in an allegedly haunted house he has rented. He promises to give each guest $10,000 with the stipulation that they stay the entire night in the house after the doors are locked at midnight, all the windows are barred, and there are no phones or radios to use. The guests are test pilot Lance Schroeder, newspaper columnist Ruth Bridges, psychiatrist Dr. David Trent, who specializes in hysteria, Nora Manning, who works for one of Loren's companies, and the house's owner, Watson Pritchard.

David instead meets with Annabelle, who had faked her death using a hanging harness and sedatives. Secretly lovers, the two of them have orchestrated the various mishaps to manipulate Nora into killing Frederick. Nora, seeing Frederick enter the basement with a gun in his hand, does indeed shoot him. After she flees, David slips in to dispose of Frederick's body in the vat of acid, and the lights go out. After a wildly festive and successful Christmas-themed holiday haunt in December and Viktor’s Valentine in February, plus the new A St. Paddy’s Nightmare, Lincoln Mill returns for a second year with an all new experience. As the story goes, a long time ago, in a town not so far away, there was a textile mill where many workers were tortured.
Evelyn and Steven are at one another’s throats, each trying to kill the other. Jennifer, Eddie and Pritchett search the basement for the security system's control panel. While exploring the labyrinthine basement, Jennifer confesses to Eddie that her real name is Sara Wolfe, the recently fired assistant to the real Jennifer. Shortly after, Sara is nearly drowned in a tank of blood by a ghost impersonating Eddie, but the real Eddie arrives in time to save her. Melissa subsequently disappears, leaving behind a massive trail of blood and a camera that shows a little footage of what happened to her.

They are relieved to have escaped and won the money but are stuck on the roof of the house, unsure of how to get down. Nora is chased from her room into the basement by Annabelle's ghost. Aroused by the ghostly sounds, David concludes that the killer is about and proposes he and Frederick split up to search the house. Lance uncovers a secret room at the end of the second-floor hall, but the door shuts behind him once he enters, trapping him.

The guests learn the party's rules downstairs, and each is given a Colt Model 1903 Pocket Hammer for protection. Having encountered further apparitions, Nora decides against staying the night, but the caretakers lock the doors five minutes early, taking that option out of the guests' hands. The soundtrack has also been changed to featuring cinematic Star Wars music but with a dark, horror twist. With House on Haunted Hill, the Horror Movie Gimmick Became Iconic
Frederick is convinced Annabelle tried to poison him to acquire his wealth, which Annabelle somewhat evasively denies, attributing his suspicions to paranoia and jealousy. Watson believes the house is genuinely haunted by the ghosts of those murdered there, including his own brother; he claims to have spent one night there before and "was almost dead" when found the next morning. He gives a tour of the house, including a vat of acid in the basement, which a previous resident used to kill his wife. When Lance and Nora remain behind to further explore the basement, Lance is locked in an empty room and struck on the head, while a menacing ghost confronts Nora. Lorimar Productions released the film on VHS cassette on CBS/Fox Video's Key Video in October 1985. Two major studios have released it on home video in remastered versions.

Soon, he moved into directing and producing films independently. In 1955, he saw the legendary French thriller Les Diaboliques, and he knew that horror was the genre for him. After all, Castle was competing with the big guys in the studio system, mega-blockbusters on Cinemascope, and this new-fangled invention, television. He needed a gimmick unique to the theater, yes, but also unique to himself.

It’s always fun to imagine living inside of an iconic horror movie house, which is why we always like to report on such locations going up for grabs. The latest, brought to our attention by Variety, is the mansion from William Castle’s original House on Haunted Hill, which was actually also featured in Blade Runner. With his first horror film, 1958's Macabre, Castle gave every customer a certificate for a $1,000 life insurance policy from a real insurance company lest they die of fright.

They are far enough away from the original wild cat to exhibit full domestic traits. Despite their mammoth size, the Maine Coon is known for being gentle, affectionate, and sweet. Often called a gentle giant, the breed is also referred to as being the dog of the cat world because they love spending time with their humans. They are also intelligent and like to be involved in what you’re doing. There are dozens of breeds of cats, along with a virtually unlimited array of hybrid, cross, and moggy breeds.
Appearance
This cat breed is commonly referred to as a “miniature cougar cat,” and it’s easy to see why. Reaching heights between 14 and 18 inches (35.56 to 45.72 cm), this feline is recognizable for its large, rounded ears, short coat, and deep chest. Chausies are also known for being energetic and playful cats that develop a strong loyalty to their human family members.
Weight range: up to 25 lbs
They’re smart, playful and enjoy a good challenge, be it mental or physical. They are incredibly affectionate and enjoy any type of adventure they can tag along for. They’re the perfect big house cat for pet parents who want a big cat breed, but also the playful, energetic (and chaotic) spirit that can often come from the little guys. The American Bobtail is thought to have originated from the cross-breeding of a wild bobcat and a domesticated hunting cat. They come in various coats and colors and average sizes around 10 inches and 16 pounds. Savannah cats, as the name suggests, claim parts of their ancestry from the wild plains of the African Savannah.
#9: Norwegian Forest Cat
Even as a close relative to the Ragdoll, TICA does not recognize the Ragamuffin. Also known by its Norwegian name – Skogcatt – the Norwegian Forest Cat has been around for centuries. Very handy for ridding houses and farms of mice, they’ve only recently become popular in Europe and the States. While we provide information resources and canine education, the content here is not a substitute for veterinary guidance. The Ragdoll is a unique breed in many ways, although it is unlikely that they were bred as a CIA experiment or that they contain alien DNA, as has been claimed.
Turkish Van
But there’s a wide range of big cat breeds that tend to come in on the larger side. For centuries, the Siberian has fascinated humans with its graceful charm. Even though this breed did not appear in the United States until 1990, their Russian ancestry dates back more than 1,000 years, according to VCA Animal Hospitals. Siberians don’t disappoint when it comes to cat obedience training, as they are some of the smartest and composed kitties in the world. Siberians come in a variety of colors, ranging from reds to blues.
The Bengal cat gained breed recognition by the Cat Fancier's Association in 2016. They are also recognized for registration by the American Cat Fanciers Association, the Canadian Cat Association, and the Governing Council of the Cat Fancy. These cats are incredibly muscular and have powerful bodies. With such energetic personalities, you’ll need to ensure plenty of stimulation for this breed. It is likely that they were transported to France from Burma and were bred with Siamese cats to produce the distinct Birman cats we know today. A female brown tabby Maine Coon named Cosey won what is regarded as the first American cat show, held at Madison Square Garden in New York City on May 8, 1895.

The Bobcat is one of the few exotic cats that enjoy being around people and will often bond with their owners. However, they are dangerous to keep if they are not raised properly. They are similar to large dogs that have not been domesticated. Bengal cats often love water, a trait that most house cats do not possess. You may have to be careful that your aquarium does not become a fishing pond.
Where to Adopt or Buy a Maine Coon Cat
As the name suggests, this is a true American cat breed, having first originated in the state of Maine in the 19th century. They can be reluctant to engage with new people and prefer napping to running around. However, they enjoy lazy play sessions if their favorite human is involved.
Siberian Cat
These powerful, intelligent cats are known to be “problem solvers.” A doorknob in the way? They won’t be able to keep their paws off it until it’s open. That’s why training them with a hidden self-cleaning litter box would be a breeze. These clever cats would have no problem finding their way inside all the different nooks and cranies.

They range from short to long haired and from those that were bred for their rodent hunting prowess to felines that prefer to laze in any sun patch that they find. Some cats love the lap of their human, and others are entirely aloof. Some feel like a member of the family, while others are more like a passing house guest. If you don't want to run around with a Chausie, consider relaxing with a British shorthair.
Cats with savannah coloring are often more expensive than those that inherit a domestic pattern. If you’re willing to give up the wild-looking pattern, you can save quite a bit on these cats. There are many breeders in the US, but demand is relatively high. You often have to wait a while before a Savannah is available. Asian Leopard Cats are sometimes kept as pets, but they’re not ideal. Most hide from humans and take an extremely long time to warm up to their owners.
They are more of a runner than a climber, making them easier to care for than other large exotic cats. They don’t get into things as often or try to escape because they prefer to keep their feet on the floor. A Serval is an African wildcat that is legal in some areas of the US.

Being patient will save you a lot, but being proactive for next year will save you the most. Party supplies see weekly discounts at Hobby Lobby, but not every item will see a price-drop. The only items always discounted are paper napkins and plates, perhaps for environmental reasons, perhaps just because they're popular that way. We do know that other items, like gift wrap and bags drop to half price, and cake decorating items go 40% off, every other week. Really, if you take anything away from this article, it should be that someone in charge at Hobby Lobby once bought a planner that was very strict on doing things on a weekly basis, and now they're stuck that way forever.

If you look at the chart up near the top of this article, you'll see that many seasonal events start long before the event in question, and extend a little beyond it. These will be broken down into smaller sale periods, with the earliest sales starting at 40% off, and getting higher as the weeks go by. Eventually, by the last sale period, you'll be looking at savings of up to 80% or 90% off, as they'll now be newly last-season items. Both Easter and Valentine's Day items, for example, go on sale as early as the first week of January, but they don't hit their highest discounts until the week after the event. So you'll be stocking up on aggressively discounted Easter items to use in 11 months and three weeks' time, or something similar.
